Implant Dentistry

What is a dental implant?

Implant BeforeA dental implant is an artificial tooth root that is surgically anchored into your jaw to hold a replacement tooth or bridge in place. The benefit of using implants is that they don't rely on neighboring teeth for support; they are permanent and stable. Implants are a good solution to tooth loss because they look and feel like natural teeth.

When are implants used?

When you lose one or more teeth due to bone loss, an accident, or decay, shrinkage of the jawbone may cause your face to look older. Dental implants can stop this process. A traditional denture or bridge won’t stop this process, and sometimes they can make it worse. That’s where dental implants come in.

What are some benefits of dental implants?

  • Improved speech
  • Improved comfort
  • Easier eating
  • Convenience
  • Improved self esteem
  • Lifelong tooth replacement

Why do we do implants?

Missing teeth can lead to loss of self esteem and embarrassment. Dental implants can help you regain your natural smile, improving your appearance and self confidence. They can also increase comfort by eliminating loose fitting complete and partial dentures. We want our patients to be happy and have a lifetime of great dental health.

Can anyone receive dental implants?

Ideally, an implant candidate must be in good health, have the proper bone structure, and have healthy gums for the implant to stay in place. People who are unable to wear dentures may also be good candidates. If you smoke, suffer from chronic problems, such as clenching or bruxism, or systemic diseases, such as diabetes, the success rate for implants decreases.
